Santa Cruz.

This is where I want to be. I can hear the arcade bells, the music from the carousel, and the people screaming from the rides. I can smell the fresh salt air and the deep fried food from the midway. I can feel the warm sun on my face and the cool sand on my feet. Can you?

Happy Easter!

I got an Easter surprise! Mom was always the best when it came to surprises. I remember one year it rained on Easter, so instead of having us kids hunt for eggs in the rain, she put different colored strings for us to follow through the house with clues as to where to look next. I don't remember which colored string was mine, but I do remember finding one clue in the oven and that my Easter basket was in the shower in the guest room. What a fun mom!

Water for Elephants

I went to see Water for Elephants. As usual, the book was better than the movie. But I liked the movie.

The sound of the train gave me a strangely familiar sensation, though. Like I'd been on millions of trains before. The truth is, I think I've only been on one in my whole life. Isn't that weird? I wonder if there's such things as past lives.

Uh oh. I'm in trouble.

So I'm watching Pirates of the Caribbean, and they get to the part about the compass pointing to what you want most in the world. I'm dismayed to realize that what I want most is something that I will never have again. I guess it's time for some soul searching.

A laugh while driving.

I just love a company with a sense of humor. I just had to go back and take a picture of this sign.

Spring has sprung!

Spring has sprung in Clovis, and this rose bush always makes an awesome showing. The wind is blowing, the wind chimes are singing, the sky is bright blue with white puffy clouds, and the flowers are blooming. Best of all, the weather is nice enough to have all the windows and doors open throughout the day. Yay for Springtime!

Just a thought...

I had a yard sale today with my neighbor Julie. I didn't sell Ginger's Dogloo. She was my "soul mutt" and an inside dog, so she never really had to use it, but it was HERS. Maybe I was asking too much in purpose.

UPDATE: I put the Dogloo on Craigslist, and I got the $50 I was asking for. A nice guy from Madera bought it, and he's got three little dogs who are going to share it. I was a little sad to see it go, but I'm glad to know that there are three little "doglets" out there that are going to have a place to stay warm when winter comes. (6/2011)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

I went to a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game today with my Uncle Bob. The Grizzlies won, and we had a great time! Go Grizzlies!

Trick 'r Treat!

Those of you who really know me will be shocked to find out that there's a Halloween movie out there that I haven't seen...until now. Yep, it's called Trick 'r Treat, and I got it from the library this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised, and now it's a MUST HAVE for my collection. It's got a minimal amount of gore and lots of Halloweenish humor. I give it an 8 out of 10. Here's a link.

Huh? What?

Sometimes even the meanest of people will say something nice. Does that mean they're having a bad day or a good one?

Martha goes to the movies.

I went to see the movie INSIDIOUS with my gal pal Sioneda today. It's supposed to be scary, but we laughed through the whole thing. Gas masks and Tiny Tim singing "Tiptoe Through the Tulips?" Oh, please! I've come to the conclusion that they just don't make scary movies anymore. Not for adults, anyway.

Picture haters.

At first, I had a different profile picture up, and someone said they hated it. So, I put up another profile picture, and someone else said they hated that one. All I can say is, TOO FLIPPIN' BAD!

Clovis Americana

I pass by this old sign four times a week on my way to class, and it always reminds me of my Grandmother Kathie. I'm pretty sure she drove me by this place once or twice when I was a kid, but she also, coincidentally,  had peacocks on her property. Too bad it doesn't light up at night anymore.

This is NOT my cat.

Meet J.J., my next door neighbor's cat. He thinks he lives at my house, but he doesn't. I believe, however, that I'm getting very attached to the little guy. I know this because I've already given him a nickname. He drools, you see. He drools when I pet him. He drools when he sits in my lap. He drools when I hold him. Let's face it, he's a drooler. So, I'm calling him Ferris Drooler. I'm in trouble now. Once they get a nickname, that's it. I'm hooked.

April Fool's Day!

I really don't have anything to say, but I thought it would be nice to publish my first post on April Fool's Day. 'Nough said.

What's the best April Fool's trick you ever pulled?
